Dental Fillings

At Georgia Dental Studio, premium dental fillings are used to repair teeth that are affected by decay, cracks, and other mild damage. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled, with either silver or amalgam-free composite material. Tooth-colored composite fillings can be closely matched to the rest of your natural teeth, and are known to be more aesthetically pleasing than traditional silver fillings. Your dentist will work with you to determine the best materials for restoring your smile!

Our dentists will typically place fillings in a single visit to our Jersey, GA dental office. The affected tooth will be numbed, allowing your dentist to remove decay as needed and thoroughly cleanse the tooth in preparation for the new filling. If the decay was near the nerve of the tooth, a special medication will be applied for added protection. Our team will always provide care instructions as your treatment concludes - dental fillings are designed to last many years with proper care!

Complete and Partial Dentures

Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and restore the function of your smile.

At Georgia Dental Studio, we offer two types of custom-crafted dentures: complete and partial dentures. While complete dentures are used a patient is missing their full set of teeth, partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture will both fill the gaps created by lost teeth, and prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting.

While dentures are very durable appliances and are designed to last many years, they will still require daily maintenance and may eventually have to be repaired or readjusted due to normal everyday wear. Our dentists often recommend removable dentures for patients who have lost some of their teeth or all of their teeth, or patients who are looking to enhance both the appearance and function of their smile. Dentures are known to restore important oral functions like chewing, speech, and digestion.

At Georgia Dental Studio, the process of getting dentures requires several appointments, usually over a period of several weeks. Our team uses advanced imaging technologies to take highly accurate impressions (molds) and measurements of the mouth, used to create your custom denture. Several “try-on” appointments may be necessary to ensure the proper shape, color, and fit. At your final appointment, your dentist will precisely adjust and place the completed denture, ensuring a natural and comfortable fit.

You will be given care instructions for your new dentures. Proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits to our Jersey dental office will aid in the life of your new dentures.

Fixed Dental Bridges

Dr. Till with Lacy and patientA dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance that can be an excellent, cost-effective way to replace missing teeth.

Because there are several types of dental bridges, our dentists will take time to evaluate your needs and discuss the best options for your smile. The “traditional bridge” is the most popular type and is typically made of porcelain fused to metal. This type of bridge consists of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are attached to pontics (artificial teeth), filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

Dental bridges are highly durable and will last many years; however, they may need replacement or need to be re-cemented due to normal wear. If you are looking to achieve any of the following smile goals, you may be a candidate for a fixed dental bridge:

  • Filling the gaps created by missing teeth.
  • Restore or maintain facial shape.
  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position.
  • Restore chewing and speaking ability.
  • Restore your smile from tooth loss.
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance.

Placing a dental bridge usually requires two or more visits. While the teeth are numb, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by removing a portion of enamel to allow for a crown. Next, a custom-fitted mold is created and sent to a dental laboratory where your new bridge will be fabricated. In the meantime, a temporary bridge will be made and worn until your next visit to Georgia Dental Studio.

At the second visit, your permanent bridge will be carefully checked, adjusted, and cemented to achieve a proper fit. Our dentists will provide care instructions at the conclusion of the procedure. Proper oral hygiene, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits, will aid in the life of your new, permanent bridge.

Dental Crowns

Need to repair and restore damaged teeth? A dental crown or cap is a protective covering that encases the entire tooth surface, restoring the tooth's original shape and size. Dental crowns can protect and strengthen tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

Although there are several types of dental crowns, those made from tooth-colored porcelain are the most popular. At Georgia Dental Studio, we craft porcelain crowns that are made to match the shape, size, and color of your teeth, resulting in long-lasting, beautiful smile. Dental crowns are often provided to our patients for the following conditions:

A dental crown procedure usually requires two visits to our Jersey, GA dental studio. Your first appointment will include taking several molds or impressions that will be used to create your custom crown. Your mold will also be used to create a temporary crown designed to be used for about two weeks, until your new crown is fabricated by a dental laboratory.

Your dentist will numb the affected tooth, then prepare it by removing decay and shaping the surface to properly fit the crown. Your temporary crown will then be placed with temporary cement, and evaluated for proper bite function. At your second visit, your temporary dental crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be carefully placed to ensure proper spacing, comfort and function.

Onlay Restorations

patient smiling at Georgia Dental Studio after getting a dental bridge that helped restore his smileAn onlay restoration is a custom made filling made of composite material, gold, or tooth-colored porcelain. An onlay is sometimes also referred to as a partial crown. Each onlay restoration is custom-crafted by a professional dental laboratory and is permanently cemented onto the tooth by your dentist.

Onlays can be utilized to conservatively repair teeth that have large defective fillings or have been damaged by decay or trauma. Onlays are an ideal alternative to dental crowns (caps) because less tooth structure is removed in the preparation process. Each onlay procedure usually requires two appointments at our Jersey dental office. Your first appointment will include taking several highly accurate impressions (molds) that will be used to create your custom onlay and a temporary restoration.

While your tooth is numb, your dentist will remove any decay and/or old filling materials. The space will then be thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared, shaping the surface to properly fit your onlay restoration. A temporary filling will be applied to protect the tooth while your onlay is made by a dental laboratory. At your second appointment, your new restoration will be carefully and precisely cemented into place. A few adjustments may be necessary to ensure a proper fit and that your bite is comfortable.
